Wolf by Nicole James

Purchase on Amazon

SYNOPSIS
The Evil Dead Motorcycle Club gave Wolf his nickname. They said it was because women stood about as much chance with him as Little Red Riding Hood stood against The Big Bad Wolf. And maybe that was true.
For Wolf, when it comes to his club, he’s all about loyalty. He loves his brothers, he loves the freedom of the road, and he loves his independence. When it comes to women, Wolf is all about the chase. He likes the hunt, he likes the challenge, and he loves women. And for the hot-as-hell badass biker, they’ve always come too easily. But they never fully satisfy him.
That is, until he met Crystal.
Buried under that hard-edged sexy-as-sin tomboy with the smartass mouth that can put any brother in the MC in his place, is a feminine side she only reveals when pushed. And Wolf is just the man to push. Problem is she’s the only woman to ever push back. Which only makes him more determined to have her.
Life in the Evil Dead MC isn’t easy, and neither is loving one of them. It’s a life that can leave a man scarred and bloody. And sometimes the fallout is far reaching and takes more than a man is willing to give.
It can be just as risky for any woman brave enough to love one of them.
The scars of life run deep, for both of them.
Sometimes life doesn’t give you a fairytale, sometimes you have to make your own.
And sometimes it takes a spitfire to tame a hell-raiser.

So disappointed with this book. I seriously felt this book was so rushed. I did not connect very well with the characters. Than there are new characters being introduced left and right it was so freaking confusing. Bella usually gives me a book that I adore this one I could not grasp at all.

I wish that all the characters had wrapped up stories since this was the last book in the series, and they didn't it was just not something I wanted. Left grumpy after waiting for this one for so long!!

ASCENDERS (Ascenders 1) by CL Gaber
YA Paranormal Romance/Fantasy

Is this Hell or is this High School?

THE ASCENDERS Takes You To the In-between Where Teens Who Died Young Go On the Epic Adventure of an After-Lifetime.

Blurb:
Walker Callaghan doesn't know what happened to her. One minute she was living her teenage life in suburban Chicago...and the next minute, she was in a strange place and in a brand new school with absolutely no homework, no rules, and no consequences.

Walker Callaghan, 16, is dead.

She doesn't go to Heaven or Hell. She lands at The Academy, a middle realm where teenagers have one thing in common: They were that morning announcement at their high schools because they died young.

These high school kids are now caught in a strange “in-between” zone where life hasn’t changed very much. In fact, this special teen limbo looks a lot like life in a quaint Michigan town complete with jocks, popular girls and cliques. "There are even cheerleaders in death," Walker observes. It's not a coincidence that the music teacher is a guy named Kurt who "used to have this band." The drama teacher, Heath, is crush worthy because back in his life, he starred in some superhero movie as the Joker.

Principal King explains the rules -- there are none. Why? You can't die twice.

There is no homework.
No tests.
No SATS.
You're just there to learn because the human brain isn't fully formed until you're 24.

By the way, you can't get hurt physically, so race your Harley off that hillside. But falling in love is the most dangerous thing you can do ...because no one knows how long you'll stay in this realm or what's next. Walker falls hard for tat-covered, bad boy Daniel Reid who is about to break the only sacred rule of this place. He's looking for a portal to return back to the living realm.
Ascenders....An epic adventure of an after-life time.

REVIEW
Paranormal stuff isn't usual my go to genre, this book however caught my eye.
I was lucky enough to get to read an ARC copy and I was so happy I did.

It is quite a unique read.It is nothing like I have ever read before I enjoyed it every single bit of it. The end tho left me wanting more I didn't want it to end at all. I read this one in just a crew hours and can't wait to see what is next for this series.

C.L. is a wonderful author and I totally would recommend her work to anyone!

Excerpt:
He just looked at me and nodded. It was a deal. Officially.

He sealed it the way we did at the quarry. He stuck out his pinky finger. We swore on it like little kids.

“When this delicious dinner is done and the kids are asleep,” I began, “I need you to tell me everything you know about going back.”

Another nod.

Then he grabbed me by the hips until I was face to chest, so I was forced to look up into his gray eyes. When he lifted me off the ground, I gasped. “You’re really going to do this?” Daniel asked, looking at me hard. “What if I don’t want you to do it? What if I forbid you? The last thing I need right now is to worry about you once I get there.”

“First of all, you can’t forbid me to do anything. And you won’t have to worry,” I insisted, secretly pleased that he cared that much. My surprised body pressed into his furious one.

“You and I are going to spend the next few weeks going over everything you’ve learned. We’re going to leave nothing to chance. We’re going to become scholars of time travel, but my way. We become experts by trying to answer every question,” I said, my feet still off the ground.

“We’re taking a really desperate, not to mention audacious, chance; but then everything in life and death is a desperate and audacious chance,” he said, softening his grip, lowering my feet to the ground, and holding me close.

“Then let’s be audacious together,” I said, glancing out the window where the kids and the dog were falling onto fresh snow mounds on the front lawn, thanks to an afternoon storm that seemed to represent the blank slate we needed to start anew.

Perhaps my period of desperate mourning was over, although the pain was still there and the wound was fresh. Daniel seemed to know it was also time to move on and he made that clear when he put his fingers under my chin, tilted my head up, and pressed his lips to mine in a hard kiss.

“Callaghan, chances are we’ll never make it back here,” he said into my ear as he held me. The beating of his heart told me a different story.

“I don’t like those chances, so let’s kick them in the ass,” I said.

The Price of Love #2

Review (5stars)

Mmmm I will be the first to admit I have an addiction to Laramie Briscoe characters especially the men. I am first to tackle em down when any of her new books is released.
Reaper I have been following that sexy beast since book 1.
He may look like a bad boy on the outside but man if he aint the sweetest man I know.

Than there is Harmony she is the southern belle you wanna hug and be best friends with. She is so gorgeous and I love how she is always herself !

Full circle was the next big chapter in there life especially after being thru so much in the beginning this was the story they were meant to have. I am gonna spoil and tell you they are going to have a baby Boy how adorable is that. I have to say I think that the name they choose sounds so familiar but I have know idea why *wink* . I couldn't be more happier for the couple and can't wait to see how this little family hopeful becomes even bigger one. I need a little Harmony now who is a  daddys girl with Reaper wrapped around her finger.

Full Circle does que you into what is to come next in the series with Shell and Jarrod. I have a feeling its gonna be one hell of a ride for them. Jarrod has a serious backstory that I am wanting to get to know him a heck of a lot better. I can't wait.

Cant go wrong with a Laramie Book! 5 stars all the way!!

Asa was such a bitter sweet ending to the Marked Men series. I am not going to lie I cried at the end knowing that it was it for this series. I have adored everything single book .Rule will always own my heart regardless there is no other character that can compare to him.

Asa and Royals story was a rough one, but man did they have some hot chemistry and there love for each other was just AMAZING. I think there story was adorable. I just wanted to be Royals BFF. She is too funny and sweet and OMG clumsy hahaha losing her keys always. I finally understood Asa and grew to love him!

Jay Crownover ended it off perfectly I could not asked for anything more!
Wonderful just Wonderful!!

   Asa Teaser 2
  EXCERPT:
I pulled the Nova to a stop in front of a duplex that had clearly seen better days. It wasn’t a rusted-out trailer in Kentucky, but it might as well have been. I turned off the ignition and sat back in the seat so I could turn to look at Ayden. She was watching me carefully and I could see how frustrated she was with the entire conversation in the way her shoulders were tensed up and the way her hands had curled into tight balls on her lap. It was the way she used to look whenever I got into trouble and she had to do something desperate and drastic to get me out of it. I reached out a hand and put it on top of her fists. “I died in that hospital, Ayd. There were no angels playing harps. There was no redemption and repentance. I died and it was very clear that I was going to get exactly the kind of fate I had been courting with all the messed-up shit I had been doing to other people. All I could see was every wrong I had ever committed and every bad decision I had ever made exploding all around me. For once I could see how all of that affected you. I was dying, and I knew what was waiting for me on the other side, yet I couldn’t go knowing that was all you were going to have to remember me by. I had to come back and give you something else to hold on to, some kind of good memory to go with the endless miles of bad I laid at your feet. I wanted to have the chance to show you I could be the kind of brother you deserved all along, so no, I didn’t save myself—you saved me. Just like you’ve always done for my entire life.” I saw her bottom lip tremble until she snapped her teeth around it to keep it still. Her fists unclenched below my palm and she curled her shaking fingers around my hand and her already husky voice rasped with even more emotion when she told me what I think I had needed to hear from her all along. “I have always been proud that you’re my brother, Asa. Yes, there have been times in the past I would have gladly fed you to the wolves, and it’s no secret that I had to leave home because I didn’t know what to do to help you anymore, but we both made it out alive and are better people for it. I know you’re sorry for the way things went down when we were younger, but I need you to open your eyes and take some credit for the way you have turned it around to make things the way they are now. I’ve long since come to terms with the Asa from my childhood. What I want to do is love the Asa that’s here with me now. You need to let go of those boulders weighted with all the bad things from past that are dragging you down before you get crushed under them.” It was eerily similar to what Royal had been telling me the deeper and deeper I sank in with her. I don’t think I was ready to let any part of those stones go just yet, but a sexy redhead was slowly and surely eroding bits and pieces of the rock the more and more time I spent with her. By the time she was done, maybe she would be able to carve out something that was worthwhile, something that didn’t eviscerate me to look at. I leaned over enough that I could kiss Ayden right on the center of her forehead between her midnight eyebrows and I felt her let out a shuddering sigh. “I’m never going to let you down again, Ayd. That is the one and only thing in the entire world that I can promise and know it’s a promise I will keep.” We stared at each other for a long and silent moment. The seriousness of the words I had said to her and the fact that I could see that she understood that I really, truly meant them finally worked to absolve me of some of the guilt that seemed to suffocate me whenever I thought about the things she had done to keep me safe.

Review

Until July was so freaking awesome! When I fist heard Aurora was going to start doing the kiddos stories I flipped the freak out!! When I had the opportunity to read an ARC I about near pooped my pants, seriously no lie. HAHAHA

Asher and November oldest daughter July is all grown up with a life of her own. She became a Veterinarian which has the best back story ever, if you remember Beau Asher and November's dog from until November than you will totally understand why she become a Vet. That was her parter in crime her protector and she loved him endlessly! So freakin adorable!

July she is feisty and look so much like her mama and has a personality just like her dad. I fell in love with her instantly and knew that Aurora made her into the woman she was exactly meant to be.Especially a daddy girl man does she have her dad whipped around her little finger, also I may add her uncles as well.

Than is until she meets Wes, it was a random meeting and all it took was one look into his eyes and July was a goner. Wes he is in an MC yes and MC you heard me right! I was jumping for joy when I found out, but than I oh snap what will her dad think!!

This book was filled with everything perfect and Wes he grew on me he loved July and that is all that mattere. Asher and November make a few appearances which just made me love this book even more it shows how much love they have for one another.

OMG You have to see the Cousins holy shit I just know there stories will drive me insane!
Cant wait until Aurora gives me more!! EEEK
Total 5 Star read!!

Excerpt:  Until July

I sit up when I see a few bikes in the distance. I don’t recognize their patches, but that doesn’t surprise me. Tennessee has a huge MC community, and there are always new clubs popping up all over the state. I slow down as I close the distance between us.
The closer I get, the more details I can make out. The group of about five bikes in front of me are all Harleys, all ranging in colors from almost purple to black. None of the men are wearing helmets, which is the complete opposite of me, who is covered from head to toe in black leather. Even my helmet is all black, with leather piping.
I take the men in, noticing they are all well-built, their leather cuts displaying a large eagle, with its wings spread wide like it’s midflight. The talons of the bird are carrying a long stem rose, with petals falling off it onto their club name, The Broken Eagles. I begin to speed up and pass them one by one, thankful for the security of my helmet, the black visor making it impossible to see me.
I keep my head straight until the last guy, the one who is at the front of the group, catches my attention. From the back, his hair is the first thing I notice. It’s slightly long on top and buzzed on the sides. My eyes move to the expanse of his back, the wide set of his shoulders, and the tan skin covering his lean muscles. His bike is low to the ground, and the bars are in front of him in a way that he has to stretch his arms straight out, causing every muscle to flex and move, making it look like the tattoos are alive and dancing.
My eyes skim farther down over his chest, which is covered in a white tank top tucked into a pair of light jeans, and around his waist is a black belt with a large silver buckle. I continue to pass him, my eyes shifting from the road to him and back again. This time when I look over, his head is turned towards me, and if I didn’t know any better, I would have swear he is looking directly into my soul.
“Holy shit,” I whisper, taking in his hair, the set of his jaw that is covered in days of stubble, and a pair of light eyes I can’t quite make out through the tint of my helmet. He is seriously hot, but equally scary-looking. I look from him back to the road. It must not have been even a second, but when my eyes go to the asphalt in front of me, I see a bird that is trying to make its way across the road, its wing hanging in an awkward position. I swerve to the right just in time to miss the poor animal.
“What the fuck?” I hear roared, and I look over my shoulder at the man who is now coming up quick on my right side. I yell an apology over the sound of my engine and his pipes. Do a quick wave and take off, lowering my body and pulling back the throttle, wanting to get away from them. Dude looks seriously pissed off, and even though I hate leaving the bird behind without helping it, I would like to live to see my next birthday.
I think I’m in the clear, but then the sound of pipes fills my ears, and I don’t even know how it happens, but they all catch up with me, surrounding my bike. I can’t make out what they’re saying, but my stomach starts to roll at the sound of their voices. I feel my side to make sure I have the Taser my dad insisted I carry.
I see a clearing and pull my bike off to the side of the road. I know this is probably one of the stupidest things I have ever done, but if they keep chasing me like they have been, we could all end up seriously hurt. I pull over and don’t even shut down my bike. I just lower my kickstand as my heart, which was already beating hard, begins to bang violently against my ribcage as they surround me.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” the guy who was at the head of the group asks, stepping in front of my bike.
I shake my head as my words get lodged in my throat.
He pulls me off my bike, and the men who are with him begin yelling obscenities as well.
“Sorry,” I croak out, and I don’t even know if he hears me as his hand goes to the collar of my leather jacket, where he shakes me hard. My hand accidently presses down on the button that ignites the Taser. The loud crack fills the air, and his eyes go wide then he falls to the ground, and I fall on my ass and crabwalk backwards. I look up when I hit something, only to meet the eyes of another man, who looks pissed.
“Get up,” he growls, picking me up. My feet flail under me as I’m lifted off the ground with my hands restrained behind my back.
“Hold him still,” the guy who I had tasered growls in front of me as I try to get away from the anger I feel coming off him. His hands go to my head and he rips my helmet off, causing my hair to float down around me.
Complete silence descends. I swear no one even takes a breath. until july teaser 1.jpg
